I have been away from blogging for some weeks now (well – I recently got married – so I have a excuse).
Anyway if you own a Nokia N95 classic (N95-1) – you must get the v20.x firmware update (via Nokia PC Suite). It is really very useful:
- Demand Paging is enabled – i.e., lot more free ram from about 11MB to 30MB free. You can run quite a lot of apps in parallel – Music player, Webbrowser, Calendar, Contacts,Nokia Maps…. yes all of them at the same time
- Much better battery life – about 25% more life is what I am seeing. Which is just cool
- N-Gage ready: Comes with new N-gage platform with a couple of demos
- Nokia Music store ready: Its not out in US yet – but you can use the device to download/buy music from Nokia music store directly on the device.
- Nokia search application and it is integrated into the standby screen and searches nearly all types of contents on the device. Its search as you type and it works lovely
- Stable and useful wifi – yes thank god its works well now
- Updated Camera software – it takes better shots in my opinion
- Opening the slider does not bring up the stupid old multimedia menu
- Features a new menu layout – which is quite optimal – IMHO – ofcourse it does not make complicated S60 menu tree as simple as a iphone ;~)
- The missing keystrokes bug in v11.x software is now fixed
- Nokia maps is now updated to v2.0 – looks and feels better – I havent tested it though.
All in all I think this is a super updated to the N95 — kudos to Nokia. You must update your phone if you havent already. Its a must have!!!
