More S60 Apps (VoIP Edition)

Most of the S60 devices (especially Nseries handsets) are shipping with WLAN & 3G networks. If you have a unlimited data plan or easy access to Wifi. Installing a S60 VoIP application can transform your device into a cool tool .. you need not use up your airtime.

These are some VoIP apps you can check out to run on S60 devices. All of these apps are FREE to download and use!!

  • Fring – Voip app (works seamlessly with Skype, googletalk, msn etc). It also supports twitter integration
  • Barablu – Long story short its a skype like solution on your S60 phone
  • Talkster You can call your google talk, MSN, Gizmo project buddies and any landlines (I think)
  • Nimbuzz – Works on most Java enabled phones. Try it on yours to see if it works.. I think on most S60 devices its should work. You can talk to your google talk, MSN & Nimbuzz buddies
  • Gizmo of S60 – This is a Nokia Beta Labs project which ported the Gizmo project code onto S60 devices. Gizmo lets you chat/talk with Google talk, Yahoo messenger, Windows Live users. Its also lets you talk with mobile and landline users for appropriate fee.

I have only personally used Fring – I dont have 1st hand experience with the other 3.

Well anyway, get talking over IP … its about time!
