Series60 (s60)is a very popular and open platform – which lets you download and install lot of cool apps onto your phone (agh.. multimedia computers as Nokia is beginning to call them). Incase you are in doubt whether your phone runs series 60 – you can look it up here. Nokia announced in April, 2007 that there are over 100 million S60 devices shipped.
In the recent past, I have had some experience playing with Series 60 devices. My phone in 2004-05 – Has been the Nokia N-gage .. remember the words “taco phone”, “side talking”! Then, I used Panasonic X800 which ran Series60. Recently, I have started using a Nokia N95 at work. I also have a Nokia N75 in order from Cingular. All of these phones run Series 60 & Symbian OS. Here are some cool apps that I came across. As I find more I will keep listing them.
All of these apps are FREE!!
- Fring – Voip app (works seamlessly with Skype, googletalk, msn etc). It also supports twitter integration
- Shozu – Upload photos/videos to flickr/picasaweb/blogger/vox/youtube and other services, geo tag them etc, it also supports something called as Zucasts which allow you to download videos, blog items from several popular websites.
- Nokia Lifeblog – Lifeblog is a digital photo album tool designed. You can store, organize, search, tag you media, images, messages etc
- Nokia Sports Tracker – Nokia Sports Tracker is a GPS based activity tracker that runs on S60 smartphones. Information such as speed, distance and time are automatically stored to your training diary.
- WidSets – Widgets for your S60 device. They have 1000’s to choose from and you can make your own.
I will post more apps as I find them – stay tuned!
