Firstly, I want to mention that I not an anti-capitalist nor am I against large corporations. I wanted to share with you what I have been observing over the last few years…
All corporations (businesses) consist of men, machines, process & material/services. As the business grow large – a hierarchical organization is created i.e., information flow, command & control have to flow through the hierarchy. This leads to isolation of teams from one another. Gradually, we find that we do what our management wants us to do – without understanding the bigger picture nor the consequences. The higher level management (typically) are neither grounded in reality of the workers nor the reality of the markets (due to their distance and heavy reliance on market research)
Workers follow the leaders – the leader of the pack tend to make decisions without good footing and thereby the organization slows starts to hit failure. When faced with failure -Human instincts like fear & greed start to play a major role. People start to become defensive (CYA syndrome), greedy (let us suck up whatever we can out before this thing collapses, let me just check-in to work but not do anything meaningful).Slowly the organization is not human anymore – it becomes a beast with no heart –as With deep pockets & huge impact (remember the too big to fail banks!!) this just effect economies of the world and has real impact on a lot of ‘humans’.
What can we do this prevent this? Perhaps re-organize like a hyperlinked organization
What are your thoughts?
