I thought my brain stopped working and what I discovered surprised me

One day, in my day job someone wanted a task done and I had to think — I tried, but, I did not have any thoughts. I felt numb. I felt lethargic. I felt braindead.

I had been observing these symptoms for a couple of months now. I recently had a physical exam and everything came normal. Some of my colleagues (who were in their 40s) said our faculties slow down once we hit 40. I am getting close to that now I thought this can’t be happening to me. Technology has taken control of our lives. I see myself reaching out for my cell phone all the time, sometimes even when I am driving (scary! And yes I am guilty too). I am guilty of reaching out for my phone, when I am having dinner with family (not the example I want to set my kids).

Defending products in the copying economy

Recently, one of my friend was furious  as said “Damn the competition copied my product’s killer feature and I don’t know what we should do next to compete”.

The blunt reality whether we like it or not : our product features will inevitably get copied overnight by competition, even worse a company in China will clone our entire product and sell it to the same customers at half the price. If features from Apple’s products get copied by the likes of Samsung what can we product managers do to better defend our products and kick butt in the market?…
